husbands

I'm sure those of you that have husbands or live with someone you will appreciate what happened to me. Totally unrelated to knitting except that it cut into my afternoon of knitting, I fell victim to another great foopah of my husband. Coming home today there was an odd smell, I took both of the dogs for a walk and when I returned home I noticed Raz (one of the dogs) sniffing around the freezer in the kitchen. Of course I'm now searching the kitchen for the source of the smell. It's not the trash (although that's what it smells like) and it's not comign from the fridge/freezer. I have seen the dogs and cats sniffing around the deep freezer the last couple of days so I figure that there must be toy under it. As I approach the freezer and shoo the dog away I realize the smell is coming from the freezer. I open it up .............and...............EVERYTHING is thawed and the smell is that of a trash dump. Of course I had tons of spagetti sauce, beef stew, roast, chicken, etc packed in there. Gagging I clean it up and call my husband as I am scrubbing away. We conclude that the freezer must have gone kaput. As I pull the freezer out of it's cubby (it's under the counter) I notice that the freezer is not plugged in. Oh, it dawns on me, my husband in his infinite wisdom had his power tools plugged in the previous weekend so he could do me a FAVOR by installing a new doorknob. HE unplugged the freezer and never bothered to check that it was okay to unplug this, never thought to check that it might be something importnat that he unplugged. The freezer is now airing out and many yankee candles are lit, except for a wiff every now and then the smell is gone. I better be getting a HUGE bunch of flowers tonight. I had plans on knitting this afternoon, not smelling rotten meat and cleaning up yet another mess left by husband. Marriage is bliss right???

On another note I am waiting to hear about my acceptance to the knitting olympics, my goal are socks, something I've never done. Check back soon for pictures. I've added a link to Etsy, it's like a ebay for crafters. I've listed some of my work uder my shop Amy's Creations.

quiz time

Thanks to Professor knit-wit I too took the what kind of knitter are you quiz. Much to my surprise I am a knitting guru.
Only because as a new knitter I can't stop and just oh and ah over every yarn in the yarn store. R
Right know I'm working on bag from 25 bags to knit called Artic, it's a seed stich so it'll be nice and tight and of course 3 flowers for accent. This willbe a first for me for flowers. I love the colors. Since I can't wait for spring I'm use a muted lime green from Cascade Pazaza and pink from Nashu. Pictures of the work in progress coming soon.

This is the main reason I started knitting. I was considering learning and my mother showed me a picture of this bag and I immediately wanted to make it. I took a kntting class at a local yarn store and finished my generic first timer garter scarf. Which of course I gave to my wonderful husband. Then ordered my yarn and got started. I felted it of course and have continued to felt many other projects. I love my booga bag and want to make more in so many of the other yarns that Noro offers. The wonderful kitty posing for a quick camera shot is Libby, who sat on my lap for most of time it was knitted.

This first introduction should be Thomas. My oldest (about 12 years) I've had since he was a kitten. He's named for the president Thomas Jefferson. Thomas is such a handsome gray and white tuxedo kitty and is my best friend. Without too many details he is actual a she due to medical problems but he hasn't lost any of his boyish charms. As kitten he curled up I my neck and has remained bonded to me ever since. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I swear that this cat actual says "Mom" when he meows. More kitty stories to follow later.

First Blog

My first time blogging so things will be rough at first. I only started doing this because I needed a place to talk about my knitting. I have loved reading about the projects of other knitters on their blogs and thought I'd try this blogging thing myself. I've also tired out everyone telling the endless number of animal stories so this should be a great place for me to go on. Hope you enjoy.
